• By CHANDLER JOHNSON cjohnson@newsargus.com

The Wayne Country Day Chargers defeated the Wayne Christian Eagles in straight sets Monday afternoon.
All three sets in the match were dominated by the Chargers, and their play on the court started in the first set where the Chargers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.
Wayne Country Day easily claimed the first set 25-16.
The second set started off competitively, and both teams struggled to hold serve. After 24 points played in the set, the score remained at 12-12.
With the score tied, Wayne Country Day started to pick up the intensity of their play by setting up kill after kill at the net with many of the kills coming from team kill leader Jordin Whitney.
The Chargers won seven points in a row to claim a 19-12 lead in the second set. After taking the biggest lead of the set, the Chargers never looked back and held on to win the second set 25-17.

The Chargers used the momentum they gained at the end of the second set to take an early lead in the third set.
The Chargers got off to an early 10-4 lead thanks to great net play once again from Whitney as well as from Jada Vanderhorst. Wayne Country Day held on to their lead throughout the rest of the set, and they were able to cruise to a comfortable 25-14 third set victory.
