The host Community Christian School varsity boys basketball team treated new head coach Roland Loftin to a rousing 75-34 conquest of Terra Ceia of Pantego in the Cyclones season opener in the Sallie B. Howard School gym Friday night.
The Cyclones bolted to a 26-2 lead behind senior Jimmy Forte and junior newcomer Andrew Gattis. CCS riddled Terra Ceia from 3-point land.
Forte scorched the nets for 34 points, while Gattis, a transfer from Beddingfield High, drilled in 24.
Senior Mike Piccolo chipped in with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Senior point guard Christian McFarland dished out seven assists.
“The boys played well and did everything they had worked on during practice,” Loftin commended.
The Cyclones expect a sterner test when they welcome Northwood Temple on Tuesday evening in the Peace Church gym. Northwood lost to Greenfield in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A championshiup game last season. The Cyclones exited
