All eight Knights score in 86-30 win
All eight players scored at least two points as the Greenfield School varsity boys basketball team launched North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference play by overwhelming visiting Pope John Paul of Greenville, 86-30, Wednesday night.
The second win in three nights vaulted the Knights’ overall record to 11-10. Greenfield breaks from conference play to welcome Crossroad Christian at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The Knight stretched a 27-6 margin after one quarter to 50-16 at halftime. The margin reached 40 points early in the second half — resulting in the officials instructing the clock keeper to run the clock continuously.
“We did a good job on the defensive end, and we have really been emphasizing that,” assessed Greenfield head coach Rob Salter. “We knew we overmatched them, but I was pleased we made some hustle plays that got us the ball back.
