Greenfield overwhelms CCS 80-33
Dorieon Suggs led the way with 28 points, including a 5-for-5 showing from behind the 3-point line Friday night as the Greenfield School varsity boys basketball team eased past crosstown opponent Community Christian 80-33 in 1-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference play.
Greenfield, now 17-10 overall and 6-1 in CPIC play, was never threatened in the game as the Knights owned a 32-12 lead after one quarter and a 48-13 edge at the half.
The Knights were relentless from 3-point territory, making 15 of 31 shots from beyond the arc to account for a season high.
Junior Coby White added 18, while freshman Trey Pittman added 10. White became the school’s all-time leading scorer Tuesday in a 90-62 win at Greenville Pope John Paul II, breaking the previous mark held by Brian Richardson (2,154). White now stands at 2,220 after Friday’s outcome. He handed out 11 assists against CCS.
Juniors Avery Winstead and Rieshod Baines each had eight points for the Cyclones
Greenfield plays host to former CPIC opponent Fayetteville Freedom Christian on Monday. CCS visits Wayne Country Day on Tuesday.
