The Burlington School girls put up big numbers




Taylor Fluette scored a game-high 21 points, dished out nine assists and pulled down eight rebounds to lead The Burlington School past visiting Neuse Christian Academy 71-45 in the first round of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Class 1-A state playoffs for girls' basketball Monday.



Aniyah Vanhook added 20 points and Deja Cousin finished with 16 and Molina Williams controlled the boards with 20 rebounds for the Spartans (20-5).

The Burlington School hit eight 3-pointers in the game with Fluette leading the way with three. Cousin added two while Riley Norton, Jessica Fluette and Vanhook chipped in one apiece.

Mack Wilder had 20 points and Kaitlyn Martin tallied 10 for Neuse Christian Academy (12-10).

The Burlington School will meet Northwood Temple Academy (14-8) in Thursday's quarterfinals at Asheville Christian Academy.
