The Burlington School teams blitz opponents in second-round state playoff games



Zion Walker supplied 12 points and The Burlington School boys' basketball opened the NCISAA Class 2-A state playoffs in convincing fashion, blowing by visiting Westchester Country Day School 70-19 in Friday night's second round.

Isaiah Escobar poured in 10 points, Shane Peterson posted nine points and Kendrell Brooks and Ryan Roberts supplied eight points apiece for the top-seeded Spartans (21-7), who made their postseason debut after earning a first-round bye.

The Burlington School plays host to Gaston Day School (10-9) in a Monday state quarterfinal. Gaston Day upset fourth-seeded Davidson Day (21-3), coached by former TBS coach Ron Johnson, by a final score of 64-53 in the second round.

Westchester concludes its season with a 5-12 record.
