HIGH POINT — Harris Smith scored all four Westchester Country Day goals, the last two in the second of two overtimes, as the fifth-seeded Wildcats defeated St. Thomas More 4-2 in the first round of the NCISAA 2A playoffs on Tuesday at Westchester.
The Wildcats improve to 7-8 and advance to host Salem Baptist on Thursday. The winner of that game plays at No. 4 seed Davidson Day on Saturday.
Smith scored on a breakaway to put Westchester ahead 3-2 in the 91st minutes and put the ball in the net again in the 95th minute.The Wildcats led 2-0 before St. Thomas More scored in the 71st and 72nd minutes.Emma Steward dished two assists, and Dory Keever and Georgia Brumfield had one each. Hannah Klein grabbed 29 saves and ninth-grader Kate Dyson led the defensive effort in the second half.St. Thomas More finished 13-4
