Burlington Christian Academy shook off a slow start and rallied to defeat The O’Neal School 16-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-20 in the first round of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Class 2-A state playoffs.
Lindley Dietrich led the Royals, who advance to Thursday’s second round to face the winner of the Faith Christian School / No. 6 seed Carolina Friends School match, with 20 digs, eight kills and four aces.
Laurel Pike added 22 digs and seven aces and Morgan Foy finished with 40 assists, six digs and two aces for BCA (14-5).
