After a multi-year absence from participating in Girl's Soccer, the young Lady Knights were fortunate to win their second game of the season Friday afternoon in Concord.
After falling behind 1-0 early, the Knights battled back to tie the game at 1-1 when Freshman Alex Wright placed a shot just beyond the GK's reach.
At the break, the score was tied at 1-1.
The host Eagles would grab the lead when Senior Abi Ferro netted her 2nd goal of the match with a great shot past NCA Sophomore GK Olivia Ficklin.
The game then became a back-and-forth battle of wills the rest of the way, with both teams having numerous opportunities to score.
Starting Striker Bailey Stinson (7th Grade) would record her first Varsity goal to pull the Knights even. Then, only moments later, 8th Grader Christiana McLean would score her 4th goal of the young season to give the Knights the lead.
A furious attack in the closing minutes by the Eagles provided them with several opportunities to tie the game, but the Knights defense held on for a gutsy win on the road.
The Knights move to 2-6 overall, and improve their record against 2A opponents to 2-0. All 6 of NCA's losses have come at the hands of 3A teams so far.
