SOFTBALL
NCISAA 3A TOURNAMENT
GASTONIA — Top-seeded Wesleyan Christian Academy led secondseeded Providence Day School 2-1 in
the third inning of their NCISAA 3A softball tournament winner’s bracket game on Friday night when Mother
Nature brought things to a halt. Rain stopped that contest, which is scheduled to resume at noon today.
The rest of the schedule for the double-elimination tournament remained in limbo pending the weather.
The hope is to complete play today.
In Friday’s first game, Wesleyan (19-2) rolled past fourth-seeded Hickory Grove for an 8-1 victory.
The Trojans broke open a close game with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and never looked back.
Earlier Friday, Providence Day (21-4) topped third-seeded Forsyth CountryDay 6-4, relegating the Furies to
the loser’s bracket.
