Northwood Temple Academy’s Reggie Raynor and Jay Hickman were named McDonald’s All-American game nominees on Tuesday morning.

More than 900 players across the nation were nominated for the annual all-star game, which will be played April 1 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Raynor and Hickman were the lone nominees from the Cape Fear region. The final roster of 24 players will be selected later this month for the 43rd edition of the event.

Raynor, a 6-foot-6, 195pound wing, is averaging 20.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for the Eagles. Hickman, a 6-foot-3 guard that came to Northwood Temple from Terry Sanford, is averaging 15.9 points and three rebounds.

A pair of N.C. State recruits — Moravian Prep’s Josh Hall and Greensboro Day’s Cam Hayes and Carson McCorkle — also were among the in-state nominees.
