ACA's Shepherd withdraws college commitment

Asheville Christian Academy senior Jordan Shepherd has rescinded his college basketball commitment after a coaching change at James Madison.

The Dukes announced Monday that they have fired Matt Brady.

Shepherd is a 6-foot-3 guard from Buncombe County who averaged 19.2 points, 5.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game for the Lions (19-9) this winter. He was an All-Carolinas Athletic Association pick and the 2015 CAA Player of the Year.

Shepherd announced his college commitment in January.

At the time, Appalachian State, Boston, Charlotte, Elon, Furman, Gardner-Webb, Lipscomb, Middle Tennessee State, UNC Wilmington, Western Carolina University and Winthrop were some of the other schools who also offered a scholarship to Shepherd.
