Tuscola's Max Rogers transfers to local private school
HAYWOOD - Max Rogers, Tuscola's top returning scorer for the upcoming high school basketball season announced Aug. 8 that he will transfer to a local private school.
Rogers posted on Twitter that he has enrolled at Asheville Christian Academy and will reclassify as a junior.
"Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I take this huge leap of faith," he said in his Twitter post.
Rogers averaged 16.9 points a game for the Mountaineers during the 2018-19 season and was expected to be the team's top scorer after the graduation of senior Landon Henley.
Rogers, an all-conference selection, is the second top athlete to leave Tuscola in the last few weeks.
