James Crabtree-Hannigan Asheville Citizen Times

Tucker Valliere (Asheville School) is a UNC swimming commit.
Asheville School swimmer Tucker Valliere announced his commitment to UNC last week, becoming the second Blues swimmer to pledge to the Tar Heels this year.

Valliere was part of Asheville School's state championship (and state-record) 200-yard freestyle relay team as a sophomore last year, helping the Blues win a third consecutive team title at the NCISAA Division II championship meet. He also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (52.19), third in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.07) and was on the second-place 100-yard medley relay team.

He has a lifetime best of 56.91 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:05.03 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Valliere joins senior Patrick Sleater as Asheville School swimmers committed to the Tar Heels, who finished 24th at last season's NCAA championships.
