Former Christ School baseball standout steals attention in minor leagues
Champ Stuart, a 2010 graduate of Christ School, finished his baseball season with the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies as the Eastern League's leaders in steals.
Stuart, a Brevard College graduate in his fifth year in the minor leagues, had 35 stolen bases, six more than the next best. He batted .222 with 34 RBIs and five home runs during the season for the Rumble Ponies - a New York Mets affiliate. Stuart has 136 career steals in the minor leagues.
Stuart, 24, has spent the last two years on four different teams as he continues to try and make a major league roster.
The Eastern League season ended last week.
