Suggs' 25 paces Greenfield to 72-60 win over Neuse Charter in opener

The Greenfield School varsity boys basketball team opened up its season with a 72-60 victory over visiting Neuse Charter on Monday night.

Dorieon Suggs led the Knights with 25 points and 11 rebounds as they pulled away in the fourth quarter by a 25-18 margin for the victory.

“It was good to start off the year with a win,” Greenfield head coach Rob Salter said. “It was a good team win. Coby White was on the bench most of the game in foul trouble and he eventually fouled out. But, the rest of the guys stepped up and made plays to secure the win.”

Jake Taylor chipped in 18 points and eight assists for Greenfield, while Luke Taylor had 14 points.

Salter credited the play of the Taylor brothers late.

“Luke Taylor and Jake Taylor made big plays in the second half to extend the lead,” he said.

Also scoring in double figures was White with 11.

Leading Neuse was Jimmie Sanders with 28 points.

Greenfield will host Bethel Christian on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
