THE BURLINGTON SCHOOL HOSTS SPARTAN CLASSIC
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
Burlington, NC -- The Burlington School will host their 4th Annual Spartan Classic Basketball Tournament on November 17-18, 2017. The two-day event will take place at The Burlington School’s Greenwood Terrace campus and involve the Spartans boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams. This year’s Classic Games will be a great way to start the 2017-2018 basketball season.
Tickets for adults are $10 for one-day passes and $15 for two-day. Tickets for students are $6 for one-day passes and $10 for two-day. Children 7 and under are admitted for free.
After losing all five of their starters from last season’s state title team, the Spartans will need their young players to gain valuable early experience if they hope to have post season success. Players to watch out for are senior Josiah Jeffers, who recently committed to play for Longwood University, senior Makiah Fox, and freshman Ja’Dun Michael.
The TBS’ girls program remained undefeated in the TAC conference two consecutive seasons, while winning back to back Conference Tournament Champions. Last season, they had three players to receive All Conference recognition (Aniyah Vanhook, Molina Williams, and Olivia Eller) and for three consecutive years, Coach Tavores Vanhook was named the Coach of the Year. Last Season two freshman players (Aniyah Vanhook and Molina Williams) received All State Awards. Their overall record since 2014 season is 65-17, and TBS has appeared in the State Playoffs all three years, with two semifinal appearances.
