South Point hoops standout transfers to NCISAA powerhouse

One of Gaston County’s top basketball players may finish his prep career elsewhere.

Logan Threatt announced via Twitter on Friday that he is transferring to Concord First Assembly. In doing so, he will reclassify to the Class of 2022.

“It’s something I’ve thought long and hard about. Something I’ve talked to my parents and those closest to me about,” he said. “I was hoping to wait and see how the AAU season went. But with (COVID-19) doing what it has, things changed and felt it was a decision I had to make.”

A three-year contributor at South Point, Threatt averaged 14.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He scored in double figures in each of his final two seasons at the school.

Threatt’s final season with the Red Raiders was his most productive, the 6-2 point guard averaging 21.2 points, just shy of five rebounds and 4.3 assists. As a result, he was named Southwestern 2A boys basketball Player of the Year.

“I’m going to miss my teammates and coaches,.(South Point boys basketball coach Kody Kubbs) did so much for me,” Threatt said.

The former South Point standout joins a Concord First Assembly squad that finished 35-3 and claimed the NCISAA Class 3A state championship.

Those in Gaston County will have a chance to see him on at least two occasions the next couple years. Concord First Assembly is part of the NCISAA’s Metrolina Athletic Conference, which also includes Gaston Christian and Gaston Day.
