Providence Day girls basketball star Janelle Bailey commits to UNC

Providence Day All-America girls basketball player Janelle Bailey has committed to North Carolina.
Bailey, a 6-4 senior center, is a three-time N.C. Independent Schools all-state pick. Last season, she averaged 16.8 points and 8.8 rebounds and led the Chargers to their seventh straight 3A state championship and a 27-2 record. She had more than 50 Division I college scholarship offers and is a top 50 national recruit.
Providence Day was nationally ranked by USA Today and has a 95-game CISAA conference win streak.
Bailey, an all Charlotte Observer pick, was named to the USA Basketball U17 women’s national team which won a bronze medal in this summer’s FIBA U17 world championships.
