Times-News

Charlotte forward Molina Williams, an alum of The Burlington School and the 2019-20 Times-News All-Region Player of the Year, was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team for women's basketball, the league announced Monday.

Williams averaged 5.5 points and 6.4 rebounds, starting four contests and playing in all 19 of Charlotte's regular-season games. She leads the 49ers in total rebounds with 121, including 90 on the defensive end.

The 6-footer from Graham earned Conference USA Freshman of the Week honors Feb. 15 following two standout performances against Old Dominion. Williams provided nine points and a career-high 17 rebounds in a double overtime victory, then three days later, notched her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in an overtime victory.

Charlotte guard Jacee Busick, a Kernersville Glenn product, was also named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team.

Charlotte (10-9 overall, 9-5 league) earned a double-bye in this week's Conference USA Tournament in Frisco, Texas. The East Division's No. 2 seed will begin play in Thursday's quarterfinals.
