Trinity Christian guard KJ Marshall will be playing college basketball in Pittsburgh this season.
Marshall, who averaged 9.5 points and 2.9 assists in his senior campaign with the Crusaders, announced Wednesday afternoon on his Twitter account that he has committed to Pitt, where he will join Fayetteville native Jeff Capel’s program as a walk-on.
“If anyone knows my journey getting here, it wasn’t an easy one,” Marshall posted.
“It took plenty of patience, time and hard work to get where I’m at today ... it took a village to get me to where I am today. Thank you to Coach Jeff Capel and Jason Capel for giving me this wonderful opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career and the University of Pittsburgh.”
One of Trinity’s top facilitators last season with 72 assists, the 5-foot-11 point guard was high school teammates with rising Pitt sophomore Au’Diese Toney, who averaged 7.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game last season for the Panthers.
