Village Christian basketball standout Michael Hueitt to transfer

NORTH AUGUSTA, South Carolina – Michael Hueitt has had a busy summer playing for Team CP3’s Under-16 squad. This week he’s in the Nike EYBL Finals at Peach Jam. Later this month, he’ll compete in an event in Las Vegas.
When it comes time to head back to school, the 6-foot-3 wing will go to another new destination.
After playing at Village Christian for two seasons, the Raeford native is heading to High Point Christian for his junior year.
“It was just a better move, they’re playing a national schedule next year and the team that we’re building is pretty much a national schedule team,” Hueitt said Thursday. “I’m going to be exposed to more talent when I go up there.”
He’s already familiar with some of that talent as former Trinity Christian star Kwe Parker plays for rival High Point Wesleyan.
“He’s a like a brother to me,” Hueitt said. “We’re looking forward to it.”
Known as a shooter, Hueitt, who has offers from UNC-Greensboro, College of Charleston, James Madison, Richmond, Old Dominion and Liberty, said he’s improved his ball handling.
“I’m kind of a sneaky player,” Hueitt said. “I don’t look athletic. I look way skinnier. They think I’m not strong until they play me. I’m a deceiving player.”
