Furies hold off Wildcats, 92-87
HIGH POINT — Westchester Country Day’s boys staged a furious fourth-quarter comeback. But, in the end, it came up just shor t, falling 92-87 against Forsyth Country Day School on Friday night at Westchester.
The Wildcats (6-2) trailed by 20 points with 6 ½ minutes to go before storming back to cut the margin to three. The Furies (8-1) sealed the deal at the free-throw line.
Marshall Lange led the Wildcats with 37 points. Freshman Nick Brown added 19, while Caymen Bennett netted 14 and L.J. McCoy 11.
FCDS battled foul trouble all evening. Four Furie players fouled out.
“I was proud of our guys for battling back,” Westchester head coach Dave Carrier said. “We could have packed it in and given up, but they never stopped hustling. Full credit to Forsyth Countr y Day for weathering the storm and making the free throws down the stretch.”
The Furies led 22-19 after the first quarter, 48-39 at halftime and 64-51 after three periods.
Westchester visits High Point Christian Academy on Tuesday.
