Garner beats Ravenscroft in MLK showcase, 86-69

Garner, N.C. — Garner took down Ravenscroft, 86-69, in the final game of the HighSchoolOT Garner showcase on Monday night.
Garner started the game on fire. The Trojans has everything clicking on the offensive end, finding ways to score from all three levels. Ravenscroft fell behind but was able to score in its own right but was down 35-20 at the conclusion of the first quarter.
The game stayed even in the second quarter.
Ravenscroft looked to slow the pace and made it more difficult for Garner to get easy looks in transition. Garner was able to touch the half-century mark and took a 51-35 lead into the break.
Garner’s defense stepped up in the second half. The Trojans locked in during the third quarter and limited the chances that Ravenscroft was able to create. Garner outscored the opposition 17-10 in the third quarter to take a double-digit lead into the final quarter of play.
Ravenscroft tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter.
The first four minutes of the fourth quarter saw Ravenscroft go on an 11-0 run to make it a 12 point game.
That was as close as the Ravens would get as Garner responded with a 12-5 run to put the game away.
Garner was led by Daveon Dunn who put up 21 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Ravenscroft leading scorer on the night was McCollum Wright with 15 points.
