Spartans need OT, but keep title

WINSTON-SALEM — The Burlington School scored all its overtime points on free throws to defeat Salem Baptist 50-45 in the girls’ basketball championship game of the Triad Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday.

The Spartans completed their second undefeated conference season in a row.

Aniyah Vanhook hit four free throws in the extra session and finished with 15 points for The Burlington School (21-6). Molina Wililams had 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Lige Reese made seven steals for the Spartans.

Salem Baptist (22-8) was led by Kavanna Held’s 20 points, including seven 3-point baskets. Hannah Barr added 10 points.


Note: Triad Athletic Conference championship game; Hannah Barr grabbed 16 rebounds and Kavanna Held grabbed 10 to record doubledouble on the evening.
