Vanhook paces Spartans to girls’ tourney title

Aniyah Vanhook contributed a game-high 23 points to go with seven rebounds and seven steals as The Burlington School defeated visiting Georgia’s Rabun Gap-Nacoochee 53-48 in the championship game of the Spartan Classic in girls’ basketball Saturday.
Vanhook picked up Most Valuable Player honors for the Spartans (2-0), with teammates Molina Williams and Ayanna Griggs making the all- tournament team.
Williams chipped in nine points, nine rebounds and five steals for The Burlington School, which led 23-18 at halftime.
Claudia Garcia Lopez had a team-high 17 points for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (1-2), while Josephine Frimodt and Ramani Lewis added 11 points each.
