SWEET 16 NO. 1 TEAM TO QUARANTINE
Carmel Christian, the No. 1 ranked team in the Observer’s Sweet 16 poll, will miss at least two games after the school’s campus was closed due to a cluster of COVID-19 cases.
Carmel coach Joe Badgett said the school would be closed next week and would undergo a thorough cleaning. Badgett said none of his players attend classes on campus currently and are in remote learning, but that Saturday’s game at Christ School and a game scheduled for Feb. 6 against state power Greensboro Day have been canceled.
Carmel’s next game will be Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Burlington School.
