In a game matching a 2017 N.C. 3A Independent Schools state semifinalist (Providence Day) and a 2017 2A semifinalist (Gaston Day), the Chargers used a 27-20 push in the fourth quarter to decide it. Gaston Day led 16-8 after the first quarter before Providence Day (5-0) worked its way back into the game. Providence Day -- which made only two turnovers and shot 24-of-30 from the free throw line -- got nine rebounds and eight points from sophomore center John Miralia. Gaston Day got 19 points, seven assists and three rebounds from Houston signee Nate Hinton; 11 points, three rebounds from College of Charleston signee Quan McCluney; and 10 points plus one steal from senior M.J. Armstrong.
