Christ School announced Thursday that it has hired Wesley King, who has served as the West Henderson Falcons baseball coach since the summer of 2017.

King replaces Cody Geyer, who led Christ School’s program for the past four seasons. King met with his players on Thursday afternoon to tell them the news.

“Coach King has been an excellent leader for our program. We wish him the best in his next coaching role,” West Henderson Athletic Director John McDaris said.

King, a former West baseball standout, coached at Middle Creek High in Apex for four seasons before coming to his alma mater at West in 2017 to replace Brandon Ball, who stepped down after coaching the Falcons for eight years.

After graduating from West in 1995, King played college ball at Western Carolina through 1999 and then transferred to Winthrop to close out his college career in 2000. Four years later he was hired at West as the head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach under Jim Hyatt.

In his three years at West, King had 29 wins and 27 losses. The 2020 season consisted of just five games, and the Falcons were 1-4.

In his high school coaching career, King has had 34 of his players continue their careers at the college level. He’s also surpassed 150 career victories.

He will be joining the Christ School faculty as a full-time member of the Learning Resources Department.
