Cyclones clip Rocky Mount Academy, 60-57
All season, Community Christian School varsity boys basketball coach Kenneth Atkinson has been searching for another complementary piece to his offense.
He may have found it in freshman Eli Eger.
With freshman Eric Wynn unavailable, Eger stuffed the stat sheet in Monday’s 1-A/2-A Coastal Independents Conference game with Rocky Mount Academy, going 5 of 6 from beyond the 3-point line in a 60-57 victory inside Barney Williamson Gym on the Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf campus.
Eger added eight rebounds and five blocks for the Cyclones, who improved to 10-7 overall and 4-1 within the CIC. Junior Jimmy Forte led the way with 30 points and handed out seven assists.
RMA (7-4, 4-2 CIC) entered the fourth quarter with the Cyclones tied at 44, but CCS, which shot 11 of 16 from the foul line, pulled away from the stripe in the closing stages.
The Cyclones continue conference play Tuesday on the road against Faith Chrisian of Rocky Mount.
