HPCA crushes Rabun Gap in NCISAA playoffs

WELCOME – John Saunders completed 10 of 13 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns as third-seeded High Point Christian Academy cruised past sixth-seeded Rabun Gap (Georgia) 51-3 in the first round of the NCISAA Division II football playoffs late Saturday at Oak Grove High School.
The Cougars (8-3) advanced to Friday’s state semifinal game at second-seeded Metrolina Christian (7-3) at a time to be determined. Metrolina had a first-round bye.
Jaquan Jones caught four passes for 75 yards and a touchdown for HPCA and added seven rushes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Andrews carried eight times for 98 yards and a touchdown. Pedro Moreno had a TD catch and a TD run, while David Butler had a touchdown catch, LaBrent Cruz returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown and Hunter Braswell kicked a 48-yard field goal and four PATs.
Rabun Gap finished 5-6.
