FCS' Weinstein up for coaching awards
A local high school coach is in the running for a national coaching award.
Faith Christian football coach Russell Weinstein have been nominated for U.S. Cellular’s search for the Most Valuable Coach. The coach are among 50 nominees across the country.
Voting for the coaches is now open, and will be held through Oct. 8. To vote, visit TheMostValuableCoach.com.
The final 15 coaches earning the most votes will be announced on Oct. 11, and U.S. Cellular will donate $5,000 to their schools and will hold a local celebration.
The program honors current coaches of K-12 school-affiliated sports teams who “connect to the good in all of us, by inspiring their players through true leadership and community involvement.”
At the end of the program, the final three winning coaches will receive a donation of $50,000, $20,000 and $10,000, respectively, for their school. The first place coach will also be awarded with a Samsung tech prize package, valued at $30,000, for their school.
The winning coaches will be announced on Nov. 20 with the help of a panel of judges that includes the WNBA’s Maya Moore and NFL receiver Randall Cobb.
