Fayetteville Christian School students helping classmate

Brandon Smalls is a sophomore at Fayetteville Christian School battling cancer, and students at the private school are giving their all to let their schoolmate know he is not alone in his fight. “We have had raffles, ‘Bills for Brandon,’ where classrooms compete to bring in the most dollar bills,” says Tammi Peters, the school’s longtime principal. “So far we have raised $10,000. One young sixth-grade student held a weekend yard sale and earned $180 to donate to his family.” Brandon has been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, Peters says, which is a type of cancerous tumor that arises in the soft tissue, such as muscles, according to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital website. The $10,000 is being given to Brandon’s family as they seek treatment costs to find a cure. “The family needs $27,000,” Peters says. If you would like to help the FCS students help Brandon, call 483-3905.
