Cyclones spilled by Bethel 52-14

The host Community Christian School eight-player football team saw its winning streak ended at five games with a 52-14 loss against Bethel Christian of Kinston in a North Carolina Independent Schools 1-A Colonial Carolina Conference clash Friday night.

The Cyclones also lost their first conference game against four wins and stumbled to 5-4 overall. Bethel remained undefeated in conference play.

Community Christian concludes the regular season by observing Homecoming Friday evening and opposes a Halifax Academy team in a contest that could decide the second-place finisher.

Avery Winstead and Grant Webb scored the CCS touchdowns and Winstead added two points on a conversion run.

Winstead wound up with 60 yards on nine rushes, while Webb managed 34 yards on six carries.

The Cyclones could not stop the Bethel combo of Javon Edwards and Austin Eubanks.

Edwards thundered for 247yards and five TDs on 36 rushes, while, on 10 carries, Eubanks collected 101 yards and a pair of TDs.
