CCS football postponed due to Bethel Christian quarantine
From staff reports
Community Christian’s eight-player football game Friday against Bethel Christian of Kinston was postponed indefinitely, Cyclones athletic director Bryan Walker said.
Because some of the Bethel Christian players had been around another student (not one of the players) who had tested positive for the coronavirus, Walker said that the four of Bethel Christian’s nine total players had to quarantine until Friday, Oct. 16.
The Cyclones (1-0) have an open date on their schedule that night but Bethel Christian (0-1) is scheduled to play Lawrence/Albemarle. Walker said that he is not sure when the game will be made up.
The CCS junior varsity team played Thursday at Bethel Christian.
The Cyclones’ next varsity game is Friday, Oct. 23, at home against Pungo Christian, followed by two away games to finish the regular season.
Walker also said that Monday, per a shift in North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association coronavirus guidelines, that two adult spectators per player on each home team will be allowed into athletic events. So far this season no spectators, outside those working at the event, have been allowed into NCISAA athletic contests.
