Cyclones overwhelm Warriors 50-6 for first win

Jumping out to a commanding 38-0 lead at halftime, the independent Community Christian School eight-player football team rang up 460 yards of total offense Friday night to secure its first win of the season with a 50-6 conquest of the combined team from Lawrence Academy and Albemarle School.
The Cyclones (1-1) of head coach Andy Jackson scored in every quarter and produced a 295-yard output on the ground led by senior quarterback Landon Beamon. Beamon accounted for three touchdowns on the ground while also going 4 for 7 through the air for 153 yards. Sophomore Noah Turner logged 10 carries for 55 yards and senior Graham Norville complemented the ground game with 45 yards on 10 additional totes.
Copeland Farmer, a senior, added a 14-yard TD run.
Junior wide receiver Aiden Smith was a pest offensively and defensively, hauling in two receptions for an even 100 yards and a touchdown while adding an interception return for another score from his cornerback spot. Sophomore Grant Barnes caught a 32-yard pass and junior Rylan Gay pulled in a 21-yard touchdown strike from Beamon.
The CCS defense generated a pair of takeaways, with Beamon finishing with an interception of his own. He had seven tackles, while senior Copeland Farmer led the Cyclones defensive unit with 15 stops. Thirteen were of the solo variety.
Smith added a pair of two-point conversions, one rushing and another receiving. Norville and Turner had one each.
Lawrence/Albemarle, which remained winless through three games, averted the shutout with a third-quarter touchdown.
CCS continues its five-game homestand Sept. 10 with a game against Brunswick (Virginia) Academy.
