Fayetteville Christian moves to 3-0 after win at Parrott Academy

KINSTON, N.C. — Fayetteville Christian is undefeated through three weeks of the football season after a 30-20 win at Arendell Parrott Academy on Friday night.

The Patriots struck first though. A costly interception by Fayetteville Christian found the hands of Dallas Hill. The turnover eventually led to a Nick Harrison touchdown, putting Arendell Parrott up 7-0 early in the first quarter.

Fayetteville Christian had a chance to tie the game later in the quarter when David Herden scored, but the attempt to tie failed and Arendell Parrott held a 7-6 lead through one quarter.

Late in the second quarter, Fayetteville Christian took its first lead on a long touchdown pass on fourth down. Herden completed a pass from midfield to Shahron James, the two-point conversion attempt was successful, and Fayettevlile Christian led 14-7.

But Fayetteville Christian wasn't done before halftime. With just seconds left, Herden threw his second touchdown pass, this one to Joshua Coates to put the Warriors up 20-7 at halftime.

Parrott Academy made it a game again in the second half when Harrison completed a pass to John Stocks for a 25-yard touchdown. That pulled the Patriots within 20-13, but Fayetteville Christian was able to hold on.

Fayetteville Christian is now 3-0 on the season after wins over GRACE Christian and Cary Christian in the first two weeks. Next week, the Warriors travel to Raleigh to take on St. David's (2-0).

Parrott Academy drops to 1-2 on the season. The Patriots will host Faith Christian School on Oct. 23 after a bye week next week. Faith Christian (1-1) picked up its first win of the season on Friday night, beating GRACE Christian 112-88
