ENDING A 14-YEAR WAIT

For the first time in 14 years, the Fayetteville Christian football team is off to a 2-0 start.

Senior running back Jonathan Soriano scored on a 16-yard run in the final minute of the fourth quarter to help the Warriors leave Cary Christian with a 14-6 win on Friday night.

Fayetteville Christian (1-1) racked up 271 rushing yards with quarterback David Herden accounting for 107 yards on the ground and a 19-yard touchdown that broke a scoreless tie in the third quarter.

Brian Thompson logged a game-best 128 yards on 17 carries for his second consecutive 100-yard rushing performance and wideout Shahron James hauled in five catches for 92 yards.
