Harrells Christian blows out Hickory Grove Christian

HARRELLS, N.C. — "Hey man, what are they feeding you?"
The question that came from an opposing player late in Friday's contest elicited a laugh from Devin Gardner, the bruising Harrells Christian running back. The two were trotting back to their respective huddles after the defender knocked Gardner out of bounds at the end of a long run. But instead of the defender knocking Gardner off his feet, it was the defender who seemed to take the brunt of his own blow.
It was by no means a small difference, as Harrells Christian's size and strength factored greatly into its 48-14 victory over Hickory Grove Christian.
The Crusaders (4-0) led 35-0 at halftime thanks to three touchdown runs by Gardner in the second quarter (Ethan Spell and Xavier Arrington ran in a score apiece in the first quarter).
Gardner had four total touchdown runs in the game, and Sam Hope added a seventh rushing touchdown for Harrells Christian late in the fourth quarter.
Hickory Grove Christian (1-1), playing in just its second game of the year due to rescheduling, got two touchdowns from running back Sean Dickey.
