HUNTERSVILLE — John Saunders Jr. rushed for three touchdowns as High Point Christian Academy stormed past SouthLake Christian for a 42-21 victor y on Friday night.The Cougars upped their record to 7-2. SouthLake fell to 6-3.
Saunders carried 13 times for 121 yards and scored on runs of 1, 5 and 71 yards. He also completed 10 of 17 passes for 65 yards.HPCA’s Pedro Moreno rushed five times for 39 yards and scored on a 13-yard run.HPCA tallied one TD on defense and one on special teams. David Butler caught an option pitch in the backfield and returned it 45 yards for a score. Wistar Allen blocked a punt that Colby Cox recovered and returned 1 yard for a touchdown.
Allen finished with 13 tackles, the blocked punt and a blocked field goal, while Cox had 12 tack-les and Michael Coady had nine tackles and two sacks.
HPCA closes its regular season at Metrolina Christian on Friday.
