HIGH POINT — Luke Homol threw for 280 yards and five touchdowns, and High Point Christian’s defense forced six turnovers as the Cougars breezed past Cabarrus 55-6 at the High Point Sports Complex.Homol, who completed 14 of 19 passes, connected on scoring throws of 67, 38 and 13 yards to John Saunders Jr., 32 yards to Br ycen Thomas and 16 yards to Jackson Powell. Thomas also caught a 38-yard scoring pass from Gavin Kuld.Pedro Moreno rushed six times for 66 yards, including 3 on a touchdown run.

Chase Cox helped lead the defensive effort with 13 tackles and an interception he returned for 41 yards that opened the scor-ing.Michael Coady grabbed two interceptions, and Wistar Allen and Jackson Powell grabbed one each. Allen also made 13 tackles and Powell had eight.

Cabarrus, which was a merger of players from Cannon School and First Assembly, scored on field goals of 29 and 43 yards.

HPCA (2-0) has a quick turn-around and hosts the North Wake Saints on Friday at 7 p.m. at the High Point Athletic Complex.
