Arendell Parrott remains undefeated with dominant win over Faith Christian
A matchup between two undefeated Patriots was over before the second quarter.
Arendell Parrott continued its dominance with a 54-14 victory over Rocky Mount Faith Christian Friday. The Patriots (6-0) maintained their flawless record and continued their streak of 48 or more points in every game.
“We’re really clicking right now,” Patriots coach Matt Beaman said. “The defense played lights out and when we do that we’re a really tough team. I’m proud of our efforts — the guys prepared and executed the gameplan.”
The Patriots started the game with great field position, ending in a Morgan McPhaul touchdown. After forcing a turnover on downs, APA went on a 9-play, 60-yard drive ending in a McPhaul run to make it 14-0.
Faith Christian (3-1) turned the ball over on downs again and APA capitalized with a third McPhaul touchdown run. Cole Dawson would throw a touchdown pass to Paxton Riley before running for a score, then McPhaul got a fourth touchdown — all in the second quarter. APA led 41-0 at the half and forced the running clock midway through the third after a 97-yard pick-6 from Aaron Jones.
Despite the dominant win, Beaman said the team will remain humble.
“We’re looking to go 1-0 every week,” Beaman said. “The higher seed hosts the state championship game and in order to do that, we have to continue to win. We’re not looking over our bye week.”
The Patriots’ next scheduled game is against Grace Christian Oct. 21.
