Christ School (2-0) at Murphy (3-0)
Last Week: Christ School won 47-0 over Cabarrus; Murphy won 40-9 over Murphy
Last Meeting: N/A
Notes: These two teams have never played each other before, but it's a matchup that fans have always wanted to see and have debated the outcome. That debate ends on Sept. 13 -- at least for a little while. Christ School comes into this game with an offense that has scored 92 points in two games behind App State commit quarterback Navy Shuler and a wide receiver core that includes N.C. State commit Aydan White and Cherokee transfer Cade Mintz. Sophomore Pierce Hammonds has give the Greenies a dependable running back, scoring three times in last week's win. That offense, though, will face a tough Murphy defense that has allowed 16 points in three games. Ray Rathburn leads the team with 35 tackles and two interceptions with Dallas Rayburn leading the Bullodgs with three sacks. Murphy will need to keep the ball out of the hands of Christ School's offense and will lean on running back Devonte Murray to do so. Murray is averaging 8.9 yards a carry this season and has 472 total yards and four touchdowns. Quarterback Kellen Rumfelt has completed 17-of-31 passes for 254 yards and three touchdowns, but could find himself harassed by Christ School's defense which is led by a beefy offensive line -- fronted by Liberty commit Will Buchanan -- and linebackers Read Sunn and Jasper Thomas.
