Hickory Grove at Asheville School
Records: Hickory Grove (1-4); Asheville School (4-1)
Last Week: Asheville School won 54-0 over Statesville Christian; Hickory Grove lost 55-6 to Village Christian Academy
Last Year: Hickory Grove won 49-26
Notes: Asheville School enjoyed a successful unveiling of its new athletic complex last Friday, and looks for its second home win in as many weeks. The Blues have been one of the best stories out of WNC this year, putting up big numbers on their way to a 4-1 record. There is no doubt that the transfer of East Henderson's Chris Hemphill has been a boon for Asheville School's offense. The junior has rushed for 384 yards and six touchdowns, while adding four passing touchdowns. Junior Connor Davis, however, remains the starter, completing 24-of-58 passes for 493 yards and three scores. His favorite target this season has been Titus Morrison, who has hauled in 14 receptions for 303 yards. Asheville School will face a balanced offense in its conference opener. Hickory averages 136 yards a game through the air behind freshman quarterback John Geter IV (646 yards, 6 TDs, 7 INTs) while Kirkland Williams leads the ground game with 523 yards and six scores.
