HICKORY GROVE CHRISTIAN (4-4) at CHRIST SCHOOL (6-2), 7 p.m.
Last week: Hickory Grove lost to Mountain Island Charter, 48-14; Christ School beat Rabun Gap (Ga.), 21-16.
Last year: Christ School beat Hickory Grove, 28-0.
Notes: When a 6-2 team is bringing up the rear, you know it’s been a good football season at Christ School. The Greenies have WNC’s only undefeated team in boys soccer (outside of America, the sport is commonly referred to as football) with a 13-0-4 record. And fifth-year coach Mark Moroz and his boys are getting it done on the gridiron as well. Drew Johnson (1,622 yards and 14 touchdowns with four interceptions) added 155 yards to his yearly total a week ago. Christ School has rattled off three consecutive wins with the junior tossing his throws to Kokayi Cobb (22 receptions for 267 yards one touchdown), Jared Letman-Gash (17 receptions for 556 yards and eight touchdowns), Tyler Redmond (15 receptions for 200 yards and two touchdowns) and Keyvaun Cobb (14 receptions for 217 yards and one touchdown). Kokayi Cobb (514 yards, five touchdowns) has paced the team in rushing while the defense is fortified by Charlie Claffey (8.0 tackles per game), Redmond (7.1), Carson Jones (7.0) and Keyvaun Cobb (5.0). Hickory Grove and Skylar Mayer (744 yards, nine touchdowns) beat Asheville School, 22-20, back on Sept. 11. This is the 100th season of Christ School football as the program was founded in 1915. And Fayssoux Field is named after former coach Richard Fayssoux, who oversaw the Greenies program from 1920 to 1966.
