University Christian (1-0) at Christ School (0-0)
Last Week: Christ School was off; University Christian won 21-14 over Bolles
Last Meeting: N/A
Notes: Christ School opens the 2019 season against a Florida powerhouse in University Christian that advanced to the regional finals last year. The Greenies enter the year with big time playoff expectations as well after falling a win short of the school's first football state championship. Nick Luhm, who has been Christ School's defensive coordinator since 2014, was named the Greenies' new coach on July 9 after former coach Tommy Langford accepted a position as a nickleback coach at UNC Charlotte in late June. Returning on offense for Christ School will be senior quarterback Navy Shuler (4,112 yards, 44 TDs, 11 INTs) and senior N.C. State commit Aydan White (1,049 yards, 11 TDs). Cherokee transfer Cade Mintz, who caught 52 passes for 1,083 yards with nine touchdowns in 2018 as a junior, will add another deep threat presence on offense. Will Buchanan, Ian Adams and Kade Chapman will lead the offensive and defensive line while Read Sunn and Jasper Thomas will anchor the defense at the linebacker position. They'll have their hands full with UC running back Max McClendon, who rushed for 842 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2018. He'll share the workload with Marques Moulds and Arthur Walker. UC has won nine state championships in Florida and will be led on defense by Illinois linebacker commit Cody Kopp
