RABUN GAP, Ga. -- In a game played Friday afternoon, Rabun Gap-Nachoochee outlasted Cannon School, 35-24, to hand the Cougars their second consecutive defeat.
The Cougars (1-2) had more than 400 yards total offense, but penalties and turnovers ultimately led to their demise.
“We just came up short again,” Cannon coach Brad Hoover said. “We made too many penalties, too many turnovers and too many mistakes.”
Despite the loss, Cougars’ running back Jordan Johnson rushed for 171 yards, and Dalton Phillips ran for 106. Connor Yang had a team-leading seven tackles and an interception, while Ben Wyatt and Drew Balsbough each had six tackles.
