Ravenscroft pulls away from Wake Christian, wins 45-21

By Kyle Morton, HighSchoolOT producer

RALEIGH, N.C. —Ravenscroft Ravens bounced back from a season-opening loss a week ago with a dominant 45-21 win over the Wake Christian Bulldogs on Friday night.

The Ravens were in control of the game throughout, as the defense forced the Bulldogs into a three-and-out and Thomas Brown returned the ensuing punt for a long touchdown to make it 7-0 quickly.

Julian Quao added two touchdowns on the ground to establish a huge lead at 21-0 early in the second quarter.

Brown scored an offensive touchdown in addition to his special teams score out of the wildcat to make it 28-0.

That was the score going into the halftime break, and the Ravens failed to expand upon their lead with the first drive of the third quarter.

But the defense came through with a long scoop-and-score to make it 35-0 and effectively put the game out of reach.

The Ravens tacked on a field goal after their next drive stalled out to make it 38-0.

Wake Christian got on the board with the next two touchdowns of the game on a 19-yard catch and run for Justin Allgood and an impressive run by Anthony Greene that made it 38-14.

Each team scored again late in the fourth to get the game to its final score of 45-21.

Ravenscroft improved to 1-1 on the season with the win and will take on rival North Raleigh Christian Academy on the road next week.

Wake Christian will go on the road to face Trinity Christian next Thursday.
