Navy Shuler is following in his dad's footsteps.
The former Christ School quarterback and son of Heath Shuler is transferring to Tennessee from Appalachian State, joining the program his dad set passing records for.
" will be the fifth Shuler in my family to wear the Power T," Navy Shuler wrote on Twitter. "Rocky Top has always been my home. It's time to return!"
Shuler announced the move with a tweet Sunday, after entering the transfer portal earlier this month. In two years at Appalachian State, he appeared in one game but did not have any stats.
With the Greenies, Shuler had more than 6,500 passing yards and 71 passing touchdowns between 2017-19, reaching the state championship game as a senior.
He will be a preferred walk-on with the Vols, according to 247Sports, and has four years of eligibility remaining.
Heath Shuler played quarterback for Tennessee from 1991-93, before being drafted No. 3 overall by Washington in the 1994 NFL draft. He represented North Carolina's 11th District in the House of Representatives from 2007-13.
Navy Shuler joins a quarterback room that includes returning starter Hendon Hooker, backup Joe Milton and four-star signee Tayven Jackson.
