PADRES SHUT DOWN MYERS FOR THE SEASON
SAN DIEGO – Wil Myers’ 2015 big-league baseball season officially came to an end on Saturday.
Thomasville’s Myers, the outfielder who starred at Wesleyan Christian Academy, was moved to the 60-day disabled list by the San Diego Padres on Saturday.
Myers battled a wrist injury most of the season. He was limited to 35 games, hitting .277 with five homers, 19 RBIs, 30 runs and 10 doubles as the Padres’ primary leadoff batter and center fielder.
Myers had surgery for a bone spur in his wrist in June, tried to start rehab and had to stop in July, then was unable to start rehab earlier this week.
